Located just a few blocks from downtown Napa on bustling Jefferson Street, the vibrant mural on the side of Wyman Property Management’s office building is hard to miss. One side of the large wall reads, “Greetings from Napa, California.” The bold letters decorated with Napa Valley scenery almost seem to pop off the bright blue background. The left side of the mural features a portrait of famous psychologist Sigmund Freud holding a glass of wine. It’s become a popular photo spot for tourists and locals alike.
When Mindy Wyman, owner of Wyman Property Management, and her husband, John, purchased the space in 2020, they knew right away that they wanted to do something with the large blank wall on the side of the building. The couple worked with local artist, Dusty Kramer, to bring their vision to life.
“We wanted to create something that would honor our community and illustrate some of the things that make Napa so special,” says Wyman. “Inside each letter is something iconic about Napa—the Napa Wine Train, the Grape Crusher statue, the Uptown Theater and hot air balloons.”
The first “A” in the word “Napa” is the same “A” in the Wyman Property Management logo, painted in the shape of a house. On the left side of the wall, the portrait of Sigmund Freud holding a glass of wine is an ode to John’s therapy practice, which shares the building. The vibrant mural reflects the couple’s passion for their work and their love for the Napa Valley.
Wyman Property Management provides professional property management services for single-family homes, condos, townhomes, multiplexes, and apartment complexes. The company oversees more than 800 residential units and more than 500 homeowners’ association units, with a goal of increasing the value of their clients’ properties while relieving them of the stress that can come with real estate investment.
Wyman started her career in property management in 2001. She shared a firm with three other proprietors in the Napa Valley before branching out and establishing her own firm in 2012. She is passionate about the relationships she has built with the property owners, tenants, vendors, and her staff. She says that every day is different, which makes her job fun and exciting.
Wyman’s business started in a small office building with just three employees. As her company grew and she hired more staff, they soon outgrew their space. After some searching, she found the Jefferson Street property.
“It needed a lot of work, but I fell in love with it,” she says.
When Wyman approached Poppy Bank and asked for assistance with purchasing the building, Poppy Bank was eager to support her growing business. Poppy Bank provided financing and worked with Wyman to apply for an additional loan through the U.S. Small Business Administration.
“Poppy Bank helped us every step of the way with our loans to purchase the building. It was one of the most stress-free real estate transactions I have ever experienced,” says Wyman.
Since purchasing the Jefferson Street property in 2020, Wyman Property Management has continued to grow, adding eight new positions to their team. Eventually, they needed more office space and were able to rent a building just across the street, where the HOA side of the business is housed.
“Day to day, Poppy Bank has always been attentive to our needs. Tina, Manuel, and Janet from our local branch are always helpful and go out of their way to assist us,” says Wyman. “I have never worked with a bank before where everyone is as friendly and helpful as they have been.”
Looking to the future, Wyman Property Management is considering expanding its services to include real estate sales.
“We think this would be a logical step,” Wyman says. “We would love to be able to offer our owners the convenience of keeping the sale in house.”
